After the cancellation of the award ceremony and the gala concert, scheduled for April 30th at Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, ICMA jury members are handing out the award to the winners personally, when possible: 2020 Young Artist of the Year, Erica Piccotti, had the opportunity to receive the trophy in the prestigious Teatro La Fenice, Venice, by ICMA Secretary General Nicola Cattò.
The ceremony took place on Sunday July 19th at the beginning of the concert in the venetian theatre, completely rethought in its structure (the musician play in the stalls, the audience sits in the boxes and on the stage) because of social distancing imposed by Covid-19: she played Schumann and Brahms Quartets, together with other three young Italian musicians supported, just like Erica herself, by Musica con le Ali (“Music with wings”), a patronage association founded by Carlo Hruby. Yamaha was technical sponsor of the evening.
