Three young musicians to play at the ICMA Ceremony in Lucerne

At this year’s ICMA Award ceremony on May 10 in Lucerne, three musicians will musically enrich the event. Zofia Neugebauer and Andrea Cellacchi will perform the Sonatine for Flute and Bassoon by French composer Pierre Gabaye (1930-2000). Both are musicians of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. 15-year-old German cellist Philipp Schupelius will perform György Ligeti’s Sonata for cello solo. Read More →

Several of ICMA’s 2019 winners have been performing at this year’s VP Bank Classic Festival (formerly Next Generation Festival) in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland. Remy Franck presented the 14-year-old ICMA Discovery Award winner Eva Gevorgyan who took part in a piano concert and also Young Artist 2019, Croatian bassoon player Matko Smolcic, who was scheduled for a nonet concert as well as for a baroque concert with the Ensemble Esperanza. The concert master of this ensemble, Chouchane Siranossian, is herself an ICMA winner, since she won with her Mendelssohn CD in the category Assorted programs. Read More →

General Assembly in Bonn

At the invitation of the Beethovenfest, the ICMA Jury held its General Assembly 2019 in Bonn. While discussing current topics of ICMA and preparing the next Award Ceremonies, the Jurymembers also learned about the plans for the Beethoven Year 2020. Ars Produktion, Label of the Year 2019 of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA), is the first label to have been inspired by their award to create their own confectionary, with chocolates displaying the label logo as well as the logo of ICMA. Definitely a sweet idea!

The Jury of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) announced today the Awards for 2019. Brazilian pianist Nelson Freire is honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Spanish pianist Javier Perianes is Artist of the Year, Croatian bassoonist Matko Smolcic is Young Artist of the Year. The Discovery Award is awarded to 14-year-old Russian pianist Eva Gevorgyan.
