ICMA Creates New Award Category

The ICMA Jury held their General Assembly 2017 at the European Penderecki Center for Music in Luslawice, Poland. The Jury members decided upon the Special Awards for the coming years, set up the deadlines for the votes for the Awards 2018. One major decision was made for the audio categories where the Best Collection category was split into two different categories. While the Best Collection category is kept for collections, there will be a new category for Assorted Programs, such as symphonies combined with concertos or chamber music.

The Jury also made further preparations for the upcoming Award Ceremony in Leipzig on 1 April 2017. Read More →

Penderecki Centre Luslawice Hosts ICMA Annual Meeting

At the invitation of the Penderecki Centre, the Jury of the International Classical Music Awards will have its annual General Assembly, January 27-30, in Luslawice, Poland. The Penderecki European Music Centre was inaugurated in 2013. The building has cost about €15.5 million and was financed by the European Union, the Malopolska Voivodship, the Polish state budget and the Krzysztof Penderecki Akademia Association. Read More →

Robert Trevino To Succeed Jun Märkl In San Sebastian

The American conductor Robert Trevino, 32, a native from Fort Worth, Texas, will be the new Music Director of the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra in San Sebastian from the Season 2017/2018. His initial contract runs through the 2019/2020 season. He will succeed Jun Märkl whose contract will end in June 2017. Märkl began his tenure in 2014. He conducted ICMA’s Gala concert in San Sebastian in April 2016.
