The German music magazine ‘das Orchester’ has joined the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) as Jury Member. Published since 1953 eleven times a year by Schott Music in Mainz, ‘das Orchester’ reaches out into 45 countries with features about orchestral activities of all kind, festivals, world premiere performances, competitions and reviews of books, scores, CDs and DVDs.
ICMA President Remy Franck says: « We are proud to count now one of the most important European music magazines among our members. With ‘das Orchester’ the German print media sector is optimally represented. The editorial tradition and the background of an important publishing house are assets that reinforce the strength of our Jury in today’s musical world. With close connections to the symphony orchestras around the world ‘das Orchester’ also is a good symbol for the partnership that ICMA cared for since the very first of its prestigious gala concerts hosted by different orchestras in Europe. »
Gerald Mertens, Editor in chief of ‘das Orchester’ says: “We look forward to exchanging fresh views on the topic issues of the orchestra and media world. Together with colleagues from other magazines and radio stations across Europe we do hope to contribute to flourishing future of the music sector. The ICMA as an independent body is a great compass for the latest artistic developments in all fields of classical music. We’re proud to be a part of it.”
