ICMA-WINNER NICOLAS ALTSTAEDT PLAYED LUTOSLAWSKI IN WARSAW

Just some days after his participation at the ICMA Gala Concert in Milan, Nicolas Altstaedt, ICMA-winner 2013 in the category Chamber Music, delivered a thrilling performance of Lutoslawski’s Cello Concerto with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Vladimir Fedoseyev at Warsaw’s 17th Beethoven Festival. Our photo shows Nicolas Altstaedt at a reception at the Russian Embassy in Warsaw, together with the Russian Ambassador’s wife, Mrs. Alekseeva, ICMA Board member Martin Hoffmeister (MDR Figaro), ICMA President Remy Franck (Pizzicato) and Mrs. Elzbieta Penderecka, Director General of the Beethoven Festival.

GEWANDHAUS BOX IS RECORDING OF THE YEAR

At the ICMA Gala in Milan, the Jury communicated the winner of the ‘Recording of the Year’ Award for 2013. This highest honor goes to the Querstand Box with all nine Bruckner Symphonies played by the Gewandhaus Orchestra from Leipzig conducted by Maestro Herbert Blomstedt. The ‘Recording of the Year is chosen by the Jury among all the winner in the CD and DVD categories.

An enchanted audience attended on Monday evening (18/03/2013) the ICMA Gala in Milan’s Auditorium, with, at first, the Award ceremony, followed by the Gala Concert presenting some of this year’s winners together with Orchestra ‘laVerdi’ conducted by John Axelrod. Many distinguished guests applauded orchestra and soloists during a long and varied program comprising works from baroque to modern music.

ICMA ANNOUNCED EVENTS IN WARSAW AND ANKARA

Attended by many personalities from the musical world, this year’s ICMA Award Ceremony took place tonight at Milan’s Auditorium and was hosted by Orchestra ‘laVerdi’. « By careful listening we achieve at the end to come to conclusions and to get a result that we consider international and exceptional. ICMA 2013 that’s once more the cream of the cream. », said Jury President Remy Franck before 23 winners received their trophy.

At the end of the ceremony, Remy Franck already announced the two next Ceremonies and Gala concerts: « Our next Awards Ceremony will take place during the Beethoven Easter Festival in Warsaw. The Gala concert will be played at Warsaw Philharmonic Hall by Sinfonia Iuventus conducted by José Maria Florêncio. And this will happen on the 12th of April 2014. On the 28th of March 2015 you will have to travel south to meet the Jury. The ICMA Ceremony and Gala concert will be held at the Bilkent Hall of the Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, with the prestigious academic Bilkent Symphony Orchestra hosting this event. »

ICMA GALA CONCERT FROM MILAN AVAILABLE TO RADIO STATIONS IN 100 COUNTRIES

The Gala Concert of the 2013 International Classical Music Awards has been offered to all to active and associate Members of the European Broadcasting Union on a deferred basis. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is the world’s foremost alliance of public service media entities, comprising 74 active members in 56 countries and 35 associate members from a further 22 countries. Active members come from as far north as Iceland and as far south as Egypt, from Ireland in the west and Azerbaijan in the east, and almost every nation from geographical Europe in between. Associate members are from countries beyond Europe, such as USA, Canada, Japan, Mexico, India and Hong Kong.

IMPORTANT POLISH DELEGATION IN MILAN

To celebrate the Award for Stanislaw Moniuszko’s opera ‘Verbum Nobile’, an important Polish delegation will attend the Award Ceremony in Milan. The Opera of Szczecin, where the award winning recording was made, will be represented by its General Manager Angelika Rabizo, conductor Warcisław Kunc and baritone Leszek Skrla. The Polish label Dux will be represented by its General Manager Malgorzata Polanska.

The International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) announce their Award Ceremony and Gala Concert taking place in Milan, on the 18 March at 6:30 p.m., hosted by Orchestra ‘laVerdi’ at Milan’s Auditorium, Largo Mahler. The Award Ceremony will be attended by numerous personalities from the world’s musical life, conductors Riccardo Chailly, Frieder Bernius, John Axelrod and Dmitrij Kitajenko, label representatives from Audite, BIS, Carus, Dux, Harmonia Mundi, Melodiya, Naxos, Ondine, Querstand, Raumklang and Sony Classical, and of course by the ICMA winners 2013, with, at the helm, Maestro Aldo Ciccolini. The Gala concerts following the Ceremony will be conducted by Maestro John Axelrod.
