This year Unitel has been awarded an ICMA in the category “Video Performance” for their production of Strauss’ Salome. Since the award ceremony was cancelled due to Covid-19, ICMA Jury member Franz Patay (IMZ) and IMZ’s Secretary General Katharina Jeschke handed the award to Unitel in the course of an intimate ceremony at the Theater an der Wien.
Managing Director of Unitel Ernst Buchrucker was joined by soprano Asmik Grigorian, who played the title role in the awarded production staged by Romeo Castellucci at Salzburg Festival in 2018 – a performance that gave Grigorian world fame overnight. The film was produced by Unitel, ORF and 3sat in cooperation with Wiener Philharmoniker and Salzburg Festival, and is distributed by C Major Entertainment.
Every year, the IMZ is part of the jury of international experts of the renowned ICMA International Classical Music Award. In the words of Dr. Franz Patay, ICMA Juror, Legal Counsel of the IMZ and CEO at VBW: “We are honoured to present IMZ Member Unitel with an International Classical Music Award in the ‘Video Performance’ category for Salome – a brilliant film production starring an outstanding Asmik Grigorian which stunned critics and audiences across the world!”
